Stop the act--the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act.

To: Rep. Carter, Sen. Warnock, Sen. Ossoff

From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA

May 9

I'm writing to ask you to strongly oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act. Conservative news outlets are trying to frame this bill as a way to protect children from exposure to obscene activity, but nowhere is that language presented in the bill, meaning they are attempting to hide the bill's true nature as a censorship bill banning speech they dislike. It operates on the same false premise as the wide spate of age verification and antiporn laws that have cropped up across the nation. The authors of this legislation should be able to harmful content'. If they were sure of its passing, along with others like it, they would not have to sugarcoat them or lie about what they do. This bill does not protect children, just like how SESTA and FOSTA don't protect women and men from being trafficked and exploited, and how age verification laws don't stop child exploitation or CSAM and CSEM. It's a censorship bill, pure and simple. The authors are hoping we don't notice the slip up they made by rushing to announce the introduction of the bill before the press could dress it up as beneficial. Then they can frame anyone who opposes these bills as 'being against children' or 'being degenerates' in time for elections. It's time to cut the act. Stop the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act.
