Even Republicans in Congress have admitted that persons connected to the Trump administration have threatened them, thus influencing their decisions and “strengthening” their loyalty to him. The previous Presidential administration seems apparently to have been afraid of looking too political when they decided to leave the problem of keeping the Convicted Felon out of office in the hands of mere voters at the ballot box, despite our paying Federal taxes for a working Judiciary and Defense to respond to domestic and foreign threats. Both of these are instances of Rule By Intimidation. And both the “Rule” and “Intimidation” parts thwart effective Constitutional government. They thwart the wishes and needs of the larger public and society which good government servants should not be afraid to represent. We did not fix it at the ballot box. Money was applied by the man who was to become a “Special Government Employee” for the purpose of making sure “Trump Will Fix It” there. Thus the “Money as Free Speech” portion of the implications of Citizens United becomes a legal method to drown out our votes, while fears of being political, or actual THREATS made by Trump Administration members to our elected leaders in Congress, blunt the outrage that good, faithful, oath-observing Federal Government workers, both employed and elected, are able to bring to bear. This is loyalist culture and “Running Government Like a Business” taken to a shocking but inevitable conclusion. It is also America’s Manufacturers of Consent rubbing our noses in their control over us, and even over the halls of government. It is not time for legislative business as usual. That is what got us here, because it has constrained the actions of even the “good guys.” Even you. It is time to stop business as usual, and fund-raising as usual, because even taxpayer money is wasted when you who took an oath to defend our Constitution keep letting Trump/Musk/DOGE/MAGA urinate all over it, and then ignore it entirely.
