Reinstate temporary protected status for Afghan allies

To: Rep. Dingell, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Ypsilanti, MI

May 14

I urge you to fight against this un-American decision to strip Afghan refugees of their temporary protected status and potentially subject them to persecution, violence, and death at the hands of the Taliban. This betrayal of our loyal allies who risked everything to support U.S. forces is unacceptable and goes against our nation's core values. The grave risks facing Afghans in their Taliban-controlled homeland cannot be ignored, nor can the dire humanitarian crisis gripping the country. Deporting these vulnerable individuals would needlessly endanger thousands of lives. I implore you to uphold America's moral obligations and reinstate temporary protected status until Afghanistan stabilizes and the Taliban proves its commitment to human rights.
