Stand with Ukraine and defend democracy

To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Dingell

From: A constituent in Ann Arbor, MI

March 1, 2025

I am appalled by the treatment of Ukrainian President Zelensky today by the White House. Defense of democracy around the world has been an important American principle for decades, and we have made promises to Zelensky in particular and democracy in general that we are honor-bound to uphold. Allowing Putin to just grab smaller countries by force is dangerous and against our cherished American ideals, full stop. But it also sends a dangerous message to countries like China, telling them that “might makes right” and that America will no longer step in to enforce liberty. I urge you, as your constituent and a concerned patriot, to do everything in your power to oppose this heinous treatment of a courageous leader still trying to defend his country—and to support Ukraine in this fight, as much as is possible. Don’t let Ukraine stand alone. We all want peace. But letting the bad guys get away with being a bad guy isn’t the way to do it. And it ultimately threatens our own peace as well.
