An Open Letter

To: Sen. McCormick, Rep. Mackenzie, Sen. Fetterman

From: A verified voter in Danielsville, PA

March 29

I wrote to all three of my elected legislature officials expressing my disapproval with the President’s “excursion” in Iran.  ONE of you responded (incorrectly) that the President fulfilled his Constitutional duty to request Congressional authorization.  The other two have yet to respond, although I am sure that your staff of unpaid interns are working on your response even now. But the President has increased the problem.  He has elements of the 82 Airborne AND a Marine Expeditionary Force poised for deployment to the Middle East - if not actual in-country use within Iran’s sovereign territory. Are you comfortable NOW?  Do you STILL believe he does not need actual deliberate authorization to wage an undeclared war on our behalf?   I do not, and challenge each of you to abide by your oath of office and insist that the President conforms to the requirements of the Constitution.  Only Congress can authorize the use of the American military.  The President’s notification to a select and minimal subset of America’s representative branch does NOT meet the requirement defined in the Constitution. While you are researching Constitutional requirements, pay attention to Article II, Section 4 and consider whether YOU are remiss in YOUR Constitutional obligations and duty.  I believe you are all catastrophically failing your duty.
