Oppose the Restructuring of the Forest Service

To: Sen. McCormick, Rep. Thompson, Sen. Fetterman

From: A constituent in State College, PA

April 3

I am writing in opposition to the USDA restructuring of the Forest Service, aimed at deregulating our National Forests and opening them for resource extraction. Our public lands must be protected because:0 • Lands need protection from extractive industries. • Land management should be staffed by career scientists and conservation experts. • Sacred Sites and wildlife need preservation • Lands are a vital part of the American identity • Lands are needed for cleaning air and water • Lands are needed for recreation • Lands are a trust for future generations I’m asking you to: • Oppose deregulation of forest management and the rollbacks of the Roadless Rule. • Exercise Congressional oversight to keep qualified experts employed at agencies. • Support legislation to permanently protect our most vulnerable ecosystems from extractive industries. Oppose this restructuring now.
