An Open Letter

To: Sen. Durbin

From: A constituent in Glenview, IL

November 10, 2025

Dick Durbin, what were you thinking by reopening the government after 11pm on a Sunday? Now the past 40 days of shutdown were for nothing. I’m kind of shocked and disappointed that you essentially sided with Trump on this one. Please explain your reasoning? It can’t just be that you’re retiring and no longer care. You have a history of being on the right side of history, but this was a bad move. What can you guarantee for your constituents? Will our healthcare premiums still be subsidized? Will SNAP benefits be reinstated? Will we get to see everything in the Epstein files?
