Implement Ranked Choice Voting in Michigan

To: Gov. Whitmer, Rep. Martin, Sen. Daley

From: A verified voter in Davison, MI

February 28

Ranked choice voting (RCV) is a fairer, more representative voting system that should be implemented in Michigan elections. RCV allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference, ensuring the winner has true majority support. This eliminates the spoiler effect of vote-splitting, encourages positive campaigning focused on issues rather than attacking opponents, and leads to greater participation by giving more voters a voice. RCV has been used successfully in places like Maine and Alaska, upholding core democratic principles. Implementing RCV would strengthen Michigan's electoral process and better reflect the will of its citizens. This common-sense reform deserves serious consideration to make every vote matter.
