Demand Action on Mass Detention of Palestinians in Israeli Prisons I am writing to demand that you address a grave human rights crisis that has received far too little attention: the mass detention of Palestinians in Israeli prisons. As of January 2025, approximately 10,400 Palestinians are being held in Israeli detention. Among them are women and children. At least 2,070 are being held without charge or trial—a practice known as administrative detention. These detainees are held based on "secret evidence" that neither they nor their lawyers are allowed to see. Detention periods are renewable indefinitely. People can be held for months or even years without ever being told what they are accused of, without ever seeing a fair trial, without ever having the opportunity to defend themselves. This is not justice. This is arbitrary detention, which is a violation of international law and fundamental human rights. The United States provides over $3 billion in annual military aid to Israel. That aid flows to a government that holds thousands of people—including children—in prisons without charge or trial, based on secret evidence. American taxpayers are funding this system. I demand that you take immediate action: 1. Publicly condemn Israel's practice of administrative detention and arbitrary imprisonment of Palestinians, including children. 2. Call for the immediate release of all detainees held without charge or trial. 3. Support conditioning U.S. military aid to Israel on concrete improvements to its detention practices, including ending administrative detention and providing fair trials for all detainees. 4. Demand that the U.S. government publicly report on how its aid is being used in relation to detention and human rights. Silence is complicity. The United States cannot claim to support human rights while funding a system that holds over 10,000 people without fair trial. I urge you to speak out and act now.
