I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to remove the political banner displayed at the Department of Justice. The DOJ must remain an independent institution that serves all Americans equally, regardless of political affiliation. Displaying partisan political imagery at the nation's premier law enforcement agency undermines public confidence in the impartial administration of justice. The Department of Justice has a 154-year history of upholding the rule of law without favor or prejudice. Its mission is to enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law, to ensure public safety against foreign and domestic threats, and to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime. This mission requires the American people to trust that the DOJ operates free from political influence. Recent reporting has highlighted concerns about politicization of federal agencies. A federal judge recently issued a scathing ruling accusing the current administration of "terror" against immigrants, demonstrating how judicial oversight remains vigilant against overreach. The DOJ building itself should reflect the institution's commitment to equal justice under law, not serve as a platform for political messaging. The appearance of impartiality is as critical as impartiality itself. When citizens see political banners at the DOJ, it sends a message that justice may be dispensed based on political loyalty rather than facts and law. This erodes the foundational principle that no one is above the law and everyone deserves equal protection under it. I respectfully request that you use your authority to ensure the immediate removal of this banner and establish clear guidelines preventing future political displays at the Department of Justice. The integrity of our justice system depends on maintaining its independence from political theater.
