Reject Trump's Voter Suppression Push — Focus on Affordability

To: Sen. Hagerty, Rep. Kustoff, Sen. Blackburn

From: A constituent in Brownsville, TN

July 14

Trump's prime-time address is a distraction. His so-called 'Save America Act' — targeting mail-in ballots and adding citizenship proof requirements — is a voter suppression package that congressional Republicans have already admitted they can't pass. Don't waste time on it. My family is worried about groceries, rent, and whether we can afford to retire. That's what needs your attention. The foreign interference claims Trump is floating are especially rich coming from someone who publicly welcomed foreign help in 2020, sided with Putin over U.S. intelligence in 2016, and whose own administration shut down congressional briefings on Russian election interference. He has no credibility on this issue. What I want to see from you is legislation that makes the ultra-wealthy and large corporations pay what they actually owe — not more barriers to the ballot box built on claims that courts have rejected dozens of times. Working people are being squeezed while billionaires consolidate power. That's the real crisis worth a prime-time address.
