I am writing to demand that you take immediate action to stop Congressional Republicans from weaponizing impeachment powers to punish federal judges who rule against Trump administration policies. This abuse of power is a direct assault on our constitutional system, and your silence or inaction makes you complicit in dismantling judicial independence. Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed impeaching judges for unfavorable rulings, with U.S. District Judge James Boasberg as the primary target after he ruled that deporting 137 men without due process violated their constitutional rights. Sen. Ted Cruz has formally urged impeachment proceedings, both House and Senate Judiciary committees have held hearings on this matter, and judicial activist Mike Davis briefed the Republican Study Committee on impeachment mechanics. This is not theoretical posturing. This is a coordinated campaign to intimidate the federal judiciary into submission. Impeachment exists to remove judges for serious misconduct, not to retaliate against them for applying the Constitution and law as they understand it. What Republicans are doing is shameful and dangerous. They are attempting to transform an independent judiciary into a rubber stamp for executive power. If they succeed in establishing this precedent, every future Congress will have a roadmap for threatening judges into compliance, regardless of which party holds power. The separation of powers is not a suggestion. It is the foundation of our constitutional system. When one branch attempts to subjugate another through threats and intimidation, that foundation crumbles. You took an oath to defend the Constitution, not to stand by while your colleagues destroy it for political gain. I demand that you publicly and forcefully oppose these impeachment efforts, call out this abuse of power by name, and work to ensure these proceedings go nowhere.
