Go on record before November 3 and publicly commit to seating every duly certified member-elect on January 3, 2027, regardless of party. Speaker Johnson and Trump are already laying the groundwork to refuse Democratic members-elect their seats in the 120th Congress — and every day you stay silent is a day that plan gains ground.
This isn't speculation. Trump told Dan Bongino on February 2 that "Republicans should take over the voting." His administration has spent months dragooning House Republicans into pre-emptively declaring the midterms fraudulent. Federal courts have struck down every unconstitutional election interference attempt so far, but the courts cannot stop what happens inside the House chamber on January 3. Only you and your colleagues can.
The Constitution is clear, and Powell v. McCormack settled it in 1969: the House cannot refuse to seat a member validly elected by the people. Honor that. Say so publicly, now, before the election. Voters deserve to know whether their representative will defend the ballot or help bury it.
