Defend Our Constitution – Demand Immediate Action Now

To: Rep. Case, Sen. Schatz, Sen. Hirono

From: A constituent in Ewa Beach, HI

April 15

Dear Members of Congress, I write to you not as a partisan, but as an American deeply alarmed by the lawlessness now unfolding under the Trump administration. This is not about politics—it’s about whether the Constitution still means anything. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, a legal U.S. resident wrongly deported to El Salvador, must be returned to the U.S. Instead of complying, the Trump administration has outright defied the ruling. Mr. Abrego-Garcia is not a criminal, not a gang member—he is a father, husband, union worker, and legal resident. The Court ordered his return. The Executive Branch said no. This is not a legal gray area. This is a direct violation of the authority of the Judicial Branch and a blatant rejection of the rule of law. The President and his Attorney General are lying to the press and the public, claiming the Supreme Court’s decision is meaningless because it’s now an “international issue.” That’s false. Even worse, it has been revealed that the U.S. government is paying foreign governments to detain people the President deems a “threat”—without evidence, trial, or due process. These aren’t deportations. This is state-funded human trafficking, stripping individuals of their rights and disappearing them into foreign prison camps. This is a constitutional emergency. If an American president can label anyone a terrorist, vanish them to a foreign country, and ignore the Supreme Court—then no one in this country is safe. Not citizens, not journalists, not political opponents. We are watching the machinery of fascism rise before our eyes. The Constitution is either supreme or it is meaningless. Congress must act. I urge you to: Immediately begin impeachment proceedings against Donald J. Trump for defying the authority of the Supreme Court and violating due process. Launch a full investigation into U.S. agreements with foreign countries involving detention and deportation. Hold Attorney General Pam Bondi and all responsible parties accountable for obstruction of justice and the spread of misinformation. Publicly reaffirm the authority of the Supreme Court and make clear that constitutional violations will not be tolerated. Your oath is to the Constitution—not to any man, party, or political power. If you fail to act now, history will remember this moment as the end of American democracy. What will you say then—that you watched it happen and did nothing?
