I am writing to demand that you support impeachment proceedings against the President and members of this administration for their illegal military invasion of Venezuela. This unauthorized military operation constitutes a high crime that violates both constitutional law and international law, and it requires the strongest possible congressional response. The administration ordered U.S. military forces to conduct boat strikes in the Caribbean and execute operations inside Venezuelan territory to capture Nicolás Maduro without any congressional authorization for the use of military force. This is not a limited strike or defensive action. This is a hostile takeover of a sovereign nation executed without the constitutionally required approval of Congress. The President does not have the authority to unilaterally invade other countries and overthrow their governments, regardless of how objectionable we may find their leaders. This action is an impeachable offense. The Constitution grants Congress alone the power to declare war. By ordering this invasion without congressional authorization, the President has violated the fundamental separation of powers that protects our democracy from executive overreach. Every member of the cabinet who participated in planning or executing this operation shares responsibility for this constitutional violation. The precedent this sets is terrifying. If this administration can invade Venezuela and face no consequences, what prevents them or future administrations from invading other nations? What prevents other powerful countries from citing this action to justify their own violations of sovereignty? This operation destabilizes the entire international order and invites global chaos. I urge you to immediately introduce or co-sponsor articles of impeachment against the President and any cabinet members involved in authorizing this illegal military operation. Congress must use its constitutional authority to remove officials who commit high crimes and abuse executive power. The administration must be stopped before they expand these illegal operations further. Our constitutional system and international stability depend on accountability for this crime.
