Use your congressional power to defund ICE and dismantle the mass deportation apparatus DHS has built. This is not a reform situation. People have died — including two Americans killed by federal agents during protests in Minnesota. No restructuring fixes an agency whose core function has become rounding up 2,000 people a day, seven days a week, with 80% of officers assigned exclusively to arrests.
Congress just handed this operation $70 billion over three years, plus another $170 billion through the Big Beautiful Bill. That money is funding a machine that arrests people at traffic stops, at immigration check-ins, and on the street — deliberately kept quiet so communities can't organize and lawyers can't respond in time. The Supreme Court has now given the White House authority to reclassify legal immigrants as undocumented, expanding the target pool even further. This will not stop on its own.
Vote against any further DHS and ICE funding. Use every procedural tool available to block appropriations, demand investigations, and force this onto the public record. The administration is counting on silence. Don't give it to them.
