An Open Letter

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Mannion

From: A constituent in Elbridge, NY

November 24

I see that 86 Democrats joined Republicans in a resolution condemning "socialism in all its forms" and "opposing implementation of any socialist policies in the United States". You cannot comprehend how wrong this is. Remember: "Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. " —Harry Truman, 1952 In addition, socialism is what they call Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, farm aid, and every other spending program or law that doesn't benefit corporations and billionaires. This action is also incredibly out of touch with the current mood of the Democratic constituency that resulted in the election of Zohran Mamdani over the preferences of the Democratic elite. At best, these 86 Democrats participated is thoroughly meaningless virtue signaling. However, I think they've actually signalled that the core Democratic establishment has abandoned us. If you voted for this, your face should burn with shame, and if not, you should get busy communicating with those who did about how wrong they are.
