I need you to support invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office immediately. His threats against Iran this week crossed a line that should alarm anyone who values the rule of law and basic human decency. On Tuesday morning, Trump threatened that "a whole civilization will die tonight" unless Iran met his 8 p.m. deadline. He has openly discussed striking Iranian power plants and civilian infrastructure, which legal experts have condemned as potential war crimes. Even Senator Ron Johnson, typically a loyal Trump ally, told the Wall Street Journal that Trump "loses me if he attacks civilian targets" and acknowledged such attacks would be illegal. This is not a partisan issue anymore. Former Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene called Trump's statements "evil and madness." Tucker Carlson suggested Trump was threatening "a war crime, a moral crime." When even recent Trump allies are publicly breaking with him over threats to commit war crimes, we have passed the point where this can be dismissed as political theater. The 25th Amendment exists for exactly this scenario. I expect you to publicly call for its invocation and work with your colleagues to make it happen before Trump follows through on these threats.
