Oppose FY26 ICE, CBP, DHS funding increases w/o meaningful reform and oversight
To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin
From: A constituent in Kalamazoo, MI
January 28
I am a constituent and lifetime resident of this district. I am writing to respectfully urge you to oppose any FY2026 appropriations bill that increases funding for ICE, CBP, or DHS enforcement activities without meaningful reform and oversight.
Across the country, many communities are deeply concerned about enforcement practices that lack transparency, accountability, and adequate protections for due process. When agencies operate with broad authority and limited oversight, constitutional rights and public trust are put at risk.
I ask that you:
-Refuse to support FY2026 funding increases for ICE or CBP, including detention and deportation infrastructure.
-Oppose DHS funding packages that lack enforceable guardrails, transparency, and accountability.
-And use Congress’s Article I authority to protect due process and constitutional rights.
Our communities deserve safety, dignity, and accountability—not unchecked enforcement. I hope you will reflect these values in upcoming FY2026 funding decisions.
