Restoring separation of powers - Congressional action needed

To: Sen. Markey, Sen. Warren, Rep. Lynch

From: A constituent in Dorchester, MA

February 19

The president's executive order expanding White House control over independent agencies undermines separation of powers by subjecting them to political interference. It neuters their Congressionally-mandated independence by requiring White House approval of rules and spending, binding agencies to the administration's legal views. This authoritarian move arrogates Congressional power over the federal structure and erodes public trust. The Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity further consolidates executive power at the expense of checks and balances essential for liberty. Congressional action is urgently needed to overturn these blows against our democratic system of self-governance through separation of powers.
