I read a piece from NBC that said that Chuck Schumer's instructions to democrats would be to "restrain, reform and restrict ICE" and I would like to make it very clear: that is not enough. You cannot meaningfully reform this institution at this point. It must be defunded, abolished and, if absolutely necessary, reimagined from the ground up. Abolition is no longer a radical notion; it's a middle ground position amongst your constituents like me. I want to hear you say the words, "Abolish ICE" and then I want your votes and other actions to support that — and I believe I am in the majority opinion on this matter.
