I urge you to launch an immediate congressional investigation into the Trump administration’s redirection of nearly $352 million in Secret Service funding toward vaguely defined “White House Security Measures” connected to the East Wing project and President Trump’s ballroom.
Congress appropriated this money to strengthen the Secret Service following two assassination attempts. The law designated it for personnel, recruitment, training facilities, technology, programming, and bonuses for agents. It was never presented to Congress as funding for White House ballroom construction.
President Trump repeatedly told the American people that no government money would be spent on the ballroom. He promised “not one dime” and “not one penny” would come from taxpayers. Internal project estimates now reportedly show taxpayers covering more than half of a project expected to cost approximately $600 million.
The timing demands scrutiny. Congress rejected a separate $1 billion request connected to the East Wing project. Days later, the Office of Management and Budget made more than $351 million from Secret Service accounts immediately available for White House security spending. The administration cannot evade Congress by moving money through another account after lawmakers refused to authorize the requested funding.
Congress must subpoena records and testimony from the Office of Management and Budget, the White House, the Secret Service, the White House Military Office, and every contractor involved. Please work to freeze additional spending, restore the funds to their authorized purposes, and publish a full accounting of every taxpayer dollar spent or committed to this project.
Please support a complete investigation into this abuse of public funds and congressional authority. Thanks!
