BAN DATA CENTERS IN PA
To: Gov. Shapiro
From: A constituent in Easton, PA
April 27
Governor - We do not want Data Centers in our beautiful rural communities. I urge you to join millions of others across the country to BAN new Data Centers until we know more. WE THE PROPLE OF PA DO NOT WANT JOB KILLING DATA CENTERS.
To be clear: WE CANT AFFORD data centers in this country right now. If feeding the machines requires using ALL the water and power that we have with ZERO goal for this technology, it just means they CANNOT BE BUILT.
If the Tech Industry is SO SMART, why can’t they build 100% renewable energy data centers that make ZERO noise and DO NOT DESTROY FARMLAND ? Build underground, or in CITIES, in appropriate situated buildings.
In PA, we need to change something so that Townships and Municipalities can REJECT Data Centers if the PEOPLE don’t want them in our communities.
There is a proposed 1,200 MEGAWATT Data Center for Lower Mt. Bethel that would be a DISASTER for our community and would FOREVER ruin the character of Lower Mt. Bethel. Not worth any amounts of millions of dollars. We don’t want it.
These data centers are KNOWN to consume HUGE resources - water and electricity beyond our imagination - and pollute and create constant noise and destroy property values.
But SUPER IMPORTANT here: we have worked and fought to preserve the rural character of our Township for DECADES. A data center like this would destroy all those years of work and compromise the heart and soul of this township.
We need your help. We don’t want AI that will take our jobs and destroy civilization as we know it. We support humans, not machines.
Thank you.
