The illegal abduction and deportation of Kilmar Ábrego García by the order of the president is appalling, reprehensible, and a deplorable violation of American values and the rule of law. I ask that you do all you can to facilitate his return. The notion that the president is powerless to effectuate Ábrego García's return is ludicrous on its face. The president of the United States has paid the president of El Salvador to imprison deportees from the United States. This is a business transaction, plain and simple, and it can easily be reversed. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Accordingly, it is incumbent upon me to speak up in defense of Ábrego García, American values, and the rule of law, and it is incumbent upon you to exercise all the influence of your office to bring the man home. Your failure to do so amounts to allowing and endorsing the triumph of evil.
