I am demanding that you immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance for their flagrant violations of the Constitution and their unauthorized acts of war against Venezuela. Their actions constitute high crimes that threaten our democracy and require swift removal from office. President Trump has launched an illegal war against Venezuela without congressional authorization. He has deployed what he calls the largest armada ever assembled in South American history to blockade a sovereign nation. Since September, U.S. forces have conducted at least 22 military strikes near Venezuela, killing 87 people. These are acts of war undertaken in direct violation of Congress's constitutional authority to declare war. The administration's justifications are fabrications. Trump claims Venezuela stole U.S. oil fields and assets but offers zero evidence for these allegations. The seizure of the oil tanker Skipper, carrying up to 1.8 million barrels of oil worth as much as $100 million, is piracy masquerading as policy. The designation of the Maduro regime as a foreign terrorist organization is a transparent pretext for military aggression that bypasses constitutional requirements. This is not a policy disagreement. This is a constitutional crisis. Trump and Vance have usurped Congress's war powers, putting American service members in harm's way and risking a broader South American conflict without any democratic accountability. They have shredded the separation of powers that protects our republic from authoritarian rule. The incompetence and unfitness driving these decisions makes the situation catastrophic. Secretary of Defense Hegseth has demonstrated a profound lack of judgment, understanding, and basic competence in executing this reckless policy. Reports indicate he has been unable to perform his duties with the sobriety required of the position, appearing intoxicated while responsible for commanding our armed forces. When our military is directed by someone who lacks both constitutional respect and the capacity to execute duties responsibly, American lives hang in the balance. We cannot afford leadership that combines recklessness with fundamental unfitness for office. Congress has a constitutional obligation to act. Impeachment exists precisely for this scenario: when officials commit high crimes by violating the fundamental structure of our government. Every day these individuals remain in office, they continue to wage illegal war and expand executive tyranny. I expect you to fulfill your oath to defend the Constitution by immediately moving to impeach and remove both Trump and Vance. History will judge whether you stood up to protect our democracy or enabled its destruction through inaction.
