This proposed legislation seeks to implement an extreme nationwide abortion ban by granting constitutional protections to fetuses. Such an archaic and oppressive measure would have devastating consequences for women's health, autonomy, and equality. It represents an unconscionable overreach of government power into one of the most personal and difficult decisions a person can face. Rather than stripping away fundamental reproductive freedoms, we should be expanding access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including abortion services. Forcing someone to carry a pregnancy to term against their will is an egregious violation of bodily autonomy. This bill endangers lives by compelling people to resort to unsafe procedures if abortion becomes inaccessible. Moreover, it disproportionately harms marginalized communities who already face significant barriers to healthcare. Abortion is a complex issue that defies blanket prohibitions. There are countless heartrending situations – severe fetal abnormalities, life-threatening complications, rape, and incest – where denying this option would be unthinkably cruel. We must uphold the constitutional right to make this choice based on one's ethics, beliefs, and circumstances. Criminalizing abortion will not stop it from happening; it will only make it more dangerous. I urge you to reject this draconian legislation and its assault on human rights. We cannot regress to an era when women's lives and futures were dictated by an oppressive patriarchy. Support policies that safeguard women's healthcare instead of restricting it. Uphold our founding principles of liberty and justice for all.
