Voting Should Be Easy, Not a Barrier—Protect Mail-In Access

To: Sen. Schatz, Sen. Hirono, Rep. Tokuda

From: A constituent in Kula, HI

November 6

I urge you to uphold Hawaii’s mail-in voting system and reject any proposals to revert to in-person, same-day voting. This includes drop box voting also. My research shows that in the November 2024 election, only 4.5% voted in person. This is pretty clear evidence that people that live in Hawaii overwhelmingly prefer the accessibility of voting by mail. I sure do. Challenges like long lines at voting centers, limited time off work, and lack of transportation make in-person voting difficult for many. Why stop something that works? Don’t allow a system to be dismantled that works and is proven secure and safe and one that the majority of voters like and appreciate. Please stand firm in support of mail-in voting to protect voter rights and strengthen our democracy.
