Pass S. 5512, the Stop Wall Street Looting Act. Private equity firms load healthy companies with debt, extract fees, and walk away when the business collapses. That is not investing. That is predation. Workers lose their jobs, pensions get gutted, and local economies take years to recover. The people running these deals face almost no consequences while everyone else absorbs the loss. S. 5512 would change that with stronger disclosure requirements, limits on leveraged buyout debt, and closing the carried interest loophole. This is a straightforward question of who the economy is supposed to work for. Pass S. 5512 and put guardrails on private equity buyouts before more businesses, workers, and communities get treated as raw material.
