I am writing to you as a concerned citizen to urge your support for Senator Ron Wyden’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability regarding Elon Musk’s access to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service’s highly sensitive payment systems. Recent reports have raised serious concerns about Musk and others acting on his behalf seeking access to these systems, which are critical to the functioning of our government and economy. As you know, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service’s payment systems disperse trillions of dollars annually, including Social Security and Medicare benefits, tax credits, and payments to government contractors. Any politically motivated interference or mismanagement of these systems could have catastrophic consequences for our nation’s economy and the well-being of millions of Americans. The very idea that someone with no clear reason to access these systems could get their hands on them scares me. These payments are the lifeline for so many people, and if something goes wrong – be it through error or bad faith actors - it could devastate our families and economy. Musk was neither elected by the people nor given the security clearance needed to gain access to these sensitive documents. The information contained in the Bureau of the Fiscal Service’s systems was never meant for the eyes of individuals with significant conflicts of interest, especially Elon Musk, given his extensive and troubling relationship with China, a country with a history of cyber espionage targeting U.S. government systems. Any breach of these payment systems could jeopardize the full faith and credit of the United States. It is unthinkable that the greatest breach in our lifetimes could be at the hands of someone so close to the president, while our elected representatives sit by and watch. I am imploring you to support Senator Wyden in his request for transparency from the Treasury Department. Specifically, I ask that you support Senator Wyden’s request for detailed information about whether Musk, or those associated with him, DOGE, or his companies, have sought or been granted access to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service’s payment systems. This is not a partisan issue - it is a crisis in national security and public trust, the likes of which America has never faced. We are no longer blind to the danger Musk poses to our country, nor will we be blind to your complicity should you ignore and enable his actions. Nobody voted for this. You were elected by your people because we trusted you to protect us and do the right thing. This is the time to show us that our faith was well-placed.
