Congress has been played for fools by the Trump administration. Declaring that conflict with Iran has ended while continuing to engage in attacks does not replace Congress’ responsibility to declare war when we take military action abroad. In addition to illegal attacks on Iran, this rogue administration is continuing to murder civilians in the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans, blowing up boats without due process or evidence of their engagement with drug trafficking. I demand of my representatives that they take the strongest possible action in mitigating the Trump regime’s war crimes. This should include daily reminders to our military, including civilian leaders, that they will face justice in the future for their crimes. It should be made clear to our troops that they do not have to follow illegal orders - that in fact, it is criminal for them to do so. Understanding that Democrats in Congress have limited options until control of the House or Senate is won in November, you have to do a better job of making it clear to the American people that what is happening in the Middle East and the oceans to our south is in fact criminal and there will be repercussions in the future.
