All ethics investigations into public officials must maintain transparency and accountability. The House Ethics Committee should release its full report on the allegations against former Representative Matt Gaetz. There is precedent for making such findings public even after a member has resigned. Releasing the report would uphold principles of good governance and allow the Senate to properly vet President-elect Trump's nominee for Attorney General during the confirmation process. Given the seriousness of the claims involving potential sexual misconduct, illicit drug use and improper gifts, the American people deserve full disclosure of the facts uncovered by the ethics inquiry. Safeguarding public trust in our leaders and institutions necessitates this level of openness. The committee has an obligation to make its findings known to enable informed decisions moving forward.
