I'm writing to express my grave concern about threats to our democratic system. Recent Supreme Court rulings shielding presidents from prosecution for criminal acts echo the erosion of accountability that preceded authoritarian regimes historically. The infiltration of extreme ideologies into all branches of government is alarming. Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation's plans to reshape government institutions from within bear disturbing similarities to how antidemocratic forces consolidated power in 1930s Germany. I implore you to recognize these dangers and use your position to defend our democracy before it's too late. We must strengthen, not weaken, checks and balances and the rule of law. The future of our republic depends on principled leaders standing firm against authoritarianism in all its forms. Please take decisive action to protect our democratic institutions and constitutional order. History shows the consequences of complacency in the face of such threats.
