Please send trained diplomats and subject matter experts to negotiate an end to the war in Iran. JD Vance, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff are not trained diplomatic negotiators and clearly do not have the deep knowledge necessary to carry out complicated international negotiations in such a critical atmosphere. Furthermore, both Kushner and Witkoff have significant conflicts of interest in their and their families’ business interests in the Middle East and should not have any part in these discussions. We should be sending our most experienced, patient, and competent diplomatic staff to negotiate an end to this unwanted, unauthorized war, not untrained people who are only involved because of personal ties to the President.
