As your constituent, I'm writing to condemn President Trump's recent domestic military deployments, as well as his reported plans to deploy even more military troops into our communities over governors' objections – and I'm calling on you to block these unnecessary, inflammatory, and dangerous abuses of power. This infringement on our Constitutional rights does not make us safer and seems like yet another effort to distract from the Epstein files.
Throughout our history, people have come to the U.S. fleeing persecution and seeking a better life. They are our parents, neighbors, and friends, and are integral to the fabric of our nation. Families seeking safety and the promise of the American Dream do not deserve to be met with cruelty and violence. Yes, the border needs to be closed, but what is happening in our cities is not right.
The extreme measures being undertaken by ICE under the guidance of Homeland Security will not make us safer. Instead, the current aggressive ICE operations are endangering both undocumented immigrants and citizens alike.
We rely on our representatives and senators to protect our constitutional rights and make us safer, and I am asking you to speak out.
