I write to you today to ask you to protect families that are being preyed upon by this administration for the base purpose of inflating the number of deportations. They promised to deport “the worst of the worst” and instead they are persecuting law-abiding people who are living in and contributing to our community. This is a particularly vile act against Afghan refugees who were our allies and supported our troops for so many years, at great personal risk to themselves and their families. It is a deep violation of our values as a country of immigrants to now violently eject Haitians to whom we offered protection when they needed it most. As your constituent, I implore you to advocate for these members of our community, to protect them from unjust harassment, inhuman detainment, and rushed deportations, and to investigate the people who are debasing our international reputations and sacred values.
