Oppose any effort to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges. The 'Greater Than' movement — a coalition of Christian nationalist lobbyists including Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Jim Daly of Focus on the Family — is recycling a thoroughly discredited 2012 study to strip marriage rights from LGBTQ+ families. This is not a good-faith policy debate. It is a coordinated, billion-dollar campaign to erase families that already exist.
The study they're leaning on, Mark Regnerus's 'New Family Structures Study,' was funded by anti-LGBTQ+ lobbying groups and built on data so flawed it classified someone as having an LGBTQ+ parent if their parent had even one same-gender relationship in their lifetime. Of 236 participants labeled as having an LGBTQ+ parent, only 2 were actually raised in a stable same-gender household. The American Sociological Association submitted amicus briefs to the Supreme Court calling the data unrepresentative and the methodology dishonest. Thirty years of research shows children raised by same-gender parents have the same outcomes as those raised by straight parents.
LGBTQ+ people are parents, partners, and family. That is not up for debate in 2026. Thousands of children in foster care need permanent homes right now, and movements like 'Greater Than' make that harder. Stand against any legislative or judicial effort to use this discredited research to roll back marriage equality.
