An Open Letter

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer, Rep. Jeffries

From: A constituent in Brooklyn, NY

June 22

I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my deep opposition to the President’s unilateral and impulsive decision to escalate military conflict with Iran. This reckless action not only bypasses Congress’s constitutional authority over declarations of war, but it also endangers countless lives— American, Israeli, and Iranian—and risks sparking a wider regional or even global conflict. The American people deserve thoughtful, deliberate leadership in matters of war and peace. Instead, we are witnessing a dangerous use of force without clear objectives, meaningful consultation, or consideration of the long-term consequences. This behavior undermines our democratic institutions and international credibility. I urge you to take immediate steps to rein in this unauthorized military escalation, assert Congress’s war powers, and push for de-escalation and diplomacy. The United States must not be dragged into another needless war.
