We are currently in truly unprecedented times. But we are not without examples. From the very beginning Donald Trump has made it clear that he idolizes the likes of Andrew Jackson. This is his you and what army moment. Perhaps one of the most disheartening signs this week was from Hakeem Jeffries. What an absolute disgrace, his recent press conference was a complete abdication of authority. How can he seriously be the leader of a party in Congress if he has no idea how to lead? We need all of you to become real opposition. Do not cooperate. Do not support their nominees, even if you think they're remotely reasonable. Hold up bills, call for a quorum, use every tool you have to obstruct and slow down the process. This is what the American people want, we need you to put the brakes on this, hard. You do not have to be polite or civil, you do not have to cooperate, they have never done so. They are not your friends, they are literally enemies of democratic norms. When you attempted to enter government buildings like the department of education and were turned away by people in plain clothes, those are private military contractors. Those are the armies of billionaires. You witnessed the opening salvo of a genuine invasion. To answer speaker Jeffries' question, what do we expect him to do? Everything. Anything. Do not just talk, use the levers of the government to bring this to a screeching halt. Do not cooperate with them, learn how to be an opposition party. The progressive caucus of the Democratic party has been at the forefront of shaking things up, Take real action now, sit in at buildings, chain yourself to things, literally fight with every tool you have and find new ones. Only then will there be a shred of hope that the American people will support you.
