A critical office within the Department of Health and Human Services dedicated to promoting healthy pregnancies and reproductive health has been gutted through mass firings. Eliminating the Division of Reproductive Health puts at risk vital programs like data collection on maternal mortality, contraception guidance, support for in vitro fertilization access, and emergency planning for pregnant individuals. This move contradicts the administration's stated priorities of supporting expectant mothers and families. Maintaining these essential public health functions is imperative to improving pregnancy outcomes, reducing maternal and infant deaths, increasing access to family planning resources, and protecting vulnerable populations during crises. We urge the administration to reinstate the Division of Reproductive Health and its dedicated staff to continue this vital work mandated by Congress and backed by decades of evidence-based research and data. Dismantling this division neglects the administration's commitment to healthy families and jeopardizes efforts to address glaring disparities in reproductive health across the country.
