Our history holds the key to our future. It’s time to take a cue from the Anti-Federalists who gave us the Bill of Rights. Rights based on Court interpretations are too fragile. As we’ve seen with Roe, what is "interpreted" can be "erased." We must move beyond temporary rulings. We need explicit, written protections for abortion and LGBTQ+ rights in the law. I urge you to champion a "21st Century Bill of Rights." We need ironclad text that no future Court can simply ignore. This must include a "Right to Bodily Autonomy," ensuring the government cannot interfere in private medical decisions. It must also include a "Right to Identity," protecting LGBTQ+ citizens from state-level overreach. We must also limit executive authority to ensure no President can unilaterally bypass these codified rights through emergency orders. While abortion and LGBTQ+ rights are the front lines, they are not the limit. We need a floor for all fundamental liberties. The Anti-Federalists knew that if a right isn't written down, the government will eventually act like it doesn't exist. Stop relying on the judiciary to do your job. Codify these liberties into the organic, permanent law of our land. I am looking for leaders who will fight for a "Constitutional Floor" that protects every American's fundamental personhood, and that of every other person within our borders. Don't just manage the present; secure our future. Lead the charge for a new era of explicit American liberties. The Anti-Federalists didn’t just hope for the best; they withheld their consent until their rights were secured in ink. We must move past simply appealing to our opponents' better nature. We need structural demands that force the issue of liberty. Power yields nothing without a demand. Be the leaders who demand a written guarantee for our most basic human rights. It's high time we demand permanent, codified freedom that stands the test of time. Please lead with the courage of our founders. Secure these rights for all Americans today.
