Congress recently approved a pay raise for themselves, the first increase in over a decade. However, wages for the average American worker have remained stagnant since 2009, failing to keep up with the rising cost of living. While members of Congress are certainly dedicated public servants, it is concerning that they would prioritize increasing their own compensation when millions of hardworking Americans continue to struggle with stagnant wages and high inflation. A pay raise for elected officials should not take precedence over policies aimed at boosting wages, reducing costs, and improving economic security for all citizens. I urge you to reconsider this decision and instead focus your efforts on measures that will meaningfully improve the financial well-being of your constituents.
