As an outdoor enthusiast and constituent, I am urging you to oppose any upcoming legislation that authorizes the selloff, transfer, or privatization of America’s public lands, or other provisions that threaten the health and accessibility of our public lands for outdoor recreation.
Our public lands belong to the American people. From hiking, camping, paddling, fishing, hunting and more, outdoor recreation opportunities and the beauty of our natural landscapes help power the $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy. When managed for recreation, these landscapes provide enduring economic engines for rural communities and Tribal Nations, all while ensuring clean air and water, ecosystem integrity and more.
Efforts to sell off public lands directly contradict the values of the American public and undermine bipartisan progress on conservation and recreation access. I ask you to:
Reject any provision in legislation that facilitates the selloff or transfer of federal public lands; and
Ensure full transparency and public input for any proposed land management changes.
I respectfully urge you to fight to keep our public lands in public hands.
