Budget Vote Disapproval

To: Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock, Rep. Carter

From: A constituent in Blackshear, GA

February 27

Hello, I'm very disappointed my the budget resolution that passed the House especially considering the $880 billion in cuts it demands from the Energy Commission which controls both Medicaid and Medicare. I know a lot of elderly people who voted for this administration, including my mother who uses these services as well as myself. One thing that unites us as Americans is that nobody wants cuts to Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP. These are all programs that determine if we live or die or make ends meet. It's cruel and tone deaf to hide that in the budget resolution because the common American doesn't understand that Medicare and Medicaid are controlled by the Energy Commission which is the proposed $880 billion cut. If America is really in this much debt that we're sneaking in these harmful cuts, you need to start figuring out why the tax plan also includes higher taxes for most of the constituents on both sides as well as the most damage being done while the upper crust pay virtually no taxes and get billions in government contracts. I didn't vote for this administration and I'll be upfront about that, but my mom and a lot of people in my community are Republicans and this is an issue that will hurt their party if they continue on this path. I trust Ossoff and Warnock to vote no and try to convince R colleagues to do the same in the Senate. But I can't say the same for Mr. Carter, who voted against my family and lower income Americans from all sides of the aisle. I hope y'all figure it out because this will not go over well during midterms along with a laundry list of other things such as dismantling our national parks and firing veterans and cutting the VA, let alone dragging those most vulnerable into political games such as harassing trans people for wanting a passport or continually banning books and taking Russia's side on foreign affairs, or even disastrous RFK Jr and his wild beliefs. DOGE's unethical disabling of institutions and firing of federal workers. This country is falling apart. The least you can do is protect SNAP, Medicare and Medicaid as well as Social Security (SSDI/SSI) by removing this 880 billion allocation to be removed from the Energy Commission.
