Protect civil liberties by demilitarizing protest response.

The dangerous and unconstitutional militarization of law enforcement response to peaceful protests is a severe threat to civil liberties. As military experts and veterans emphasize, the deployment of military equipment and tactics against citizens lawfully exercising their First Amendment rights is a disturbing overreaction that will only inflame tensions. The presence of camouflaged forces carrying assault rifles and other war-fighting gear at nonviolent demonstrations is inherently intimidating and antithetical to constitutional principles of freedom of speech and assembly. This unconstitutional militarization of protest response betrays American values and must cease immediately before it further erodes public trust and incites clashes. Law enforcement has a duty to facilitate peaceful protest while maintaining public safety through measured, constitutional means - not suppress dissent through overwhelming shows of disproportionate force.
