The proposed cuts to the VA budget pose a severe threat to the essential mental health services that veterans like myself rely on. As a disabled veteran utilizing these services, I fear the potentially life-threatening consequences of reducing access to vital care. The staggering statistic of 17 or more veteran suicides daily underscores the critical importance of maintaining and strengthening mental health support systems within the VA. Gutting these resources would create an unconscionable life-or-death situation for those of us struggling with the invisible wounds of war. I urge you to reconsider these cuts and prioritize the well-being of those who have served our nation by ensuring continued access to comprehensive mental health treatment through the VA. The sacrifices made by veterans demand that we honor our commitment to their care, not diminish it.
