It is appalling that U.S. officials would participate in a baseless and politically motivated smear campaign against Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories. The accusations calling her “virulently antisemitic” or “pro-Hamas” are not only false—they are cowardly attempts to silence one of the few officials willing to speak the truth about Israel’s ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.
Let me be clear: criticizing Israel’s policies, including its violations of international law and credible accusations of genocide, is not antisemitism. Conflating the two is a cynical tactic to shield a nuclear-armed apartheid state from accountability while millions suffer. Your complicity in these slanders betrays the very principles the U.S. claims to uphold—human rights, justice, and the rule of law.
Francesca Albanese’s reports are grounded in facts. She is doing what far too many in power are too afraid or too compromised to do: hold perpetrators of mass atrocities accountable, regardless of their political alliances. Instead of supporting her critical work, the U.S. government is trying to destroy her credibility for daring to expose the truth. That is shameful.
And let me be absolutely clear: the U.S. government’s disgraceful attacks on Albanese do not reflect the views of the people. Americans from all backgrounds are standing with her because they understand that defending Palestinian lives is not antisemitic—it’s a moral obligation.
If you truly care about human rights, you will stop enabling Israel’s crimes and stop attacking the people trying to prevent them. You will support the renewal of Francesca Albanese’s mandate without delay. And if you continue down this path of cowardice and complicity, know that history—and the people you claim to represent—will not forget.
