I am writing as your constituent to demand immediate legislative oversight and funding restrictions regarding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) technology procurement. ICE’s push to procure quadrupedal "robot dogs" and utilize third-party autonomous surveillance technologies poses an unacceptable risk to fundamental constitutional protections. Deploying advanced sensory platforms, automated movement systems, and high-resolution optical tracking into residential and community spaces creates a massive threat to Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and dragnet surveillance. Law enforcement officers signed up to do this work themselves; automating law enforcement functions or outsourcing them to third-party tech systems invites severe civil rights violations and undermines accountability. I urge you to: 1 Pass legislation prohibiting the use of autonomous robotics, quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicles, and third-party algorithmic surveillance tools by ICE and CBP. 2 Block federal funding and procurement contracts allocated for robotic units and autonomous surveillance technology across federal immigration agencies. 3 Enforce strict transparency requirements on all current DHS surveillance and hardware procurement contracts. Please protect our constitutional rights and halt the technological overreach of federal law enforcement agencies.
