So, uh, these shutdowns are getting painfully common, aren't they? I would like to propose, like many others, that lawmakers should not get paid and should not have access to benefits during these increasingly frequent forays into failure. This includes the executive branch as well.
I would also like to request that, especially during these times, all elected officials should have to spend a certain amount of time talking to citizens. You know, answering direct questions, receiving feedback, the usual thing -but- to do it live. No prescreening, no ensuring a friendly audience, just raw unedited listening.
I also want to be clear, the budget bill is BAD. Its really time to draw up something clean and concise, without input from a megalomaniacal figurehead.
