I am writing to urge you to support the immediate suspension of all US support to Israel until it complies with international law and ends its annexation of Palestinian territory in the occupied West Bank. The situation has reached a critical point. Since October 2023, at least 1,094 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers in the West Bank according to UN figures. The current Israeli government has approved 68 new settlements in just three years, bringing the total to approximately 210 official settlements, with the Jewish Israeli population in these areas now exceeding half a million people. Recent actions demonstrate Israel's systematic disregard for international law. On December 10, 2025, Israel published a tender for 3,401 housing units in the E1 area that would split the West Bank in two. On February 15, 2026, the Israeli cabinet allocated $78 million to establish a government mechanism for land registration in Area C, effectively annexing Palestinian territory under Israeli law. On February 8, 2026, Israel approved measures to ease the sale of Palestinian land to Israeli settlers and expand Israeli authority into areas under Palestinian control. These actions directly violate the International Court of Justice's 2024 ruling that the Israeli occupation is illegal and must end as rapidly as possible. The UN General Assembly set September 2025 as the deadline to end the occupation. Israel has ignored both. A recent UN Human Rights Council report warned of ethnic cleansing, noting that systematic unlawful use of force and demolitions aim to uproot Palestinian communities permanently. Erika Guevara-Rosas, Amnesty International's senior director for research, advocacy, policy and campaigns, specifically criticized unconditional US support as enabling this crisis. Our government has tools available to hold Israel accountable, yet we refuse to use them. This inaction makes us complicit in what Amnesty International describes as an irreversible annexation and apartheid system. I urge you to condition all military aid, economic support, and diplomatic backing on Israel's immediate compliance with international law and cessation of settlement expansion, land seizures, and violence against Palestinians.
