I am writing to express my growing concern about the rapid rise of prediction markets and gambling applications that are proliferating online. Examples of these include Polymarket and Kalshi. These platforms have created an unregulated environment where real money is being wagered on a wide range of outcomes, from political events to entertainment and sports. While innovation in financial and online services can be positive, I am deeply troubled by the lack of oversight surrounding these platforms. Reports and anecdotal evidence suggest that such markets may be rife with insider trading, coordination, and other forms of corruption that undermine public trust. Without clear rules and enforcement, these services risk allowing manipulation that benefits a few at the expense of unsuspecting participants. I strongly urge you and your colleagues to investigate these prediction and gambling services and consider the implementation of common-sense regulations. Establishing clear guidelines, transparency requirements, and anti-fraud measures will help protect the public while ensuring that innovation in this space does not come at the cost of fairness and integrity. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that your leadership can help bring much-needed oversight to this growing issue.
